Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2026 is Feb. 25 Valve's Steam Machine: Everything we know Plus, a tactical shooter from the team behind Half-Life remake Black Mesa. Welcome to our latest roundup of what's going on in the indie game space. A whole bunch of compelling games arrived this week, and Sony dropped some news about more that are on the way to PS5 and other platforms during its State of Play stream on Thursday . For one thing, I didn't have a prequel for, one of my favorite games of the last few years on my bingo card. It's really neat that Motion Twin and Evil Empire -- the studios behind and its expansions, respectively -- are getting to make a proper Castlevania game .

Valve's Steam Machine: Everything we know Welcome to our latest roundup of what's going on in the indie game space. As always, we've got a bunch of neat games to tell you about. Perhaps I'll tear myself away from playing as Chappell Roan in or Jetpack Cat in long enough to check more of them out. Thanks to the folks at, I learned about a short, text-based game from Woe Industries from a while back called . Surprisingly enough, you take on the role of a venture capitalist who has plowed gobs of money into genAI technology and might be starting to have doubts about that investment.

Highguard, a hyperpop arena shooter and other new indie games worth checking out
Welcome to our latest roundup of what's going on in the indie game space. There are tons of interesting games out this week. But first, there's been some discourse around the Nintendo Switch version of, which arrived this week as well. On other platforms, there's an option to censor genitalia and other explicit content, but that's not present in the Switch version. Instead, such content is censored by default, with black rectangles covering up characters' bits and someone flipping the bird.

'I didn't have anything to prove': what Traitors finalist Jade Scott learned about survival from video games T he latest series of The Traitors, which ended last week on a nail-biting finale, featured some of the usual characters - from guileless extroverts to wannabe Columbos endlessly observing fellow contestants for the slightest flicker of treachery. But one faithful stood out for her quiet determination, despite a ceaseless onslaught of suspicion and accusation. That person was Jade Scott, and I wasn't at all surprised when, quite early on in the series, she revealed she was a keen gamer.

More Cult of the Lamb, a World War II computer mystery and other new indie games worth checking out
Welcome to our latest roundup of what's going on in the indie game space. It's been a very busy week of fun game releases (next week will be too!), so let's get into some of them after a quick reflection on gaming while traveling. I love my Steam Deck. And yet when I brought it with me on a five-week trip over the holidays, I used it for barely an hour the entire time. That doesn't really justify the space and weight it takes up in my bag.

Xbox is cooked. Why your next gaming console will be a PC
PCWorld observes that Xbox appears to be losing ground as gaming shifts toward PC-based living room experiences, with handheld PCs and cloud streaming leading this transformation. Valve's Steam Deck shows 20% of users dock their devices for TV gaming, while rumors suggest Microsoft's next Xbox may actually run Windows rather than proprietary console hardware. This shift matters because it offers superior gaming experiences through services like GeForce Now on smart TVs and versatile handheld PCs that double as home consoles. While wandering the show floor at CES 2026, I was struck by the future of living room gaming. What was once the realm of gaming consoles seems to be turning into PC territory.

Rainbow Six servers back online after apparent hack
Ubisoft, one of the world's largest games developers, says it's working to fix an apparent hack on popular online shooter Rainbow Six Siege. Servers for the tactical multiplayer game were taken offline on Saturday and Sunday after in-game currency thought to be worth millions of pounds was distributed to players. The company has since restored service, but suspended the game's marketplace until further notice and warned players they may face queues when trying to log on. In a statement on X, Ubisoft said it would continue to make investigations and corrections over the next two weeks. Rainbow Six Siege, commonly referred to as R6, has been a success story for Ubisoft, which is also behind the Assassin's Creed and Far Cry series.
